Vienna Lifeball 2010

I was proud to once agin be a part of this years Lifeball charity event in Vienna. Since Sound of Music is still my favourite movie of all time I couldn't resist parading around Vienna in old fashioned frocks. We went to the most fabulous of antique markets, and as mentioned in the post below I bought a heap of Afghan clothing. My favourite buy however was this wonderfully fake handpainted Gaultier purse. Look at the look on the kids face, even he knew it was Faulxtier. Klimt is Austian and is thus ubiquitous there. His paintings have always been a soursce of inspiration and I was lucky enough to catch an exhibit of his work....I will be flipping Klimt inspired looks on the dancefloors soon!!
Here's the link to the little report I did for PAPER MAGAZINE.

Good old American Gothic...So of course I go to Vienna and instead of coming home with Dirndl's I find a guy who has all this beautiful Afhgan and Uzbek conflama and buy a bagfull! That's me and my friend DJ Erik Halley from Paris, playing a little drunken dressup in our hotelroom in Vienna!

And you will know me by the trail of the dead...

Memento Mori....remember your own mortality. Once again Riccardo Tisci has blown the fashion world away, bringing to life a most beautiful death. With the most romanticly morbid details he reminded us of the true craftsminship of couture. No big show and spectacle the clothes screamed quietly on their own. The ghostly whites and shades of cream, with touches of gold all heavily laden with embroidery and encrusted with jewels. Once again the artist who inspires other artists, Ms. Frida Kahlo and her suffering spine and images were a source of inspiration. The collection makes me think less of death itself but of the Heaven that follows.

Click on the collage I put together to enlarge and behold every precious detail...

Canada day might be over but while I'm still in that proud mood. Here's a new video by my friend and fellow Canuck Jason Last. He's also the one who shot my Stylelikeu Anastasia & Snegoruchka video. It was made for Hintmag and features fashions by everyone's favourite sisters, Rodarte!

Happy Canada Day

I'm proud to live in New York City. I'm also very proud to be Canadian. Which bring me to one of my favourite (yes it's spelled with a U!!!!) Canadians of all times. Joni Mitchell. So looking North from Brooklyn, this song seems extra poignant today."I've seen both sides now..."
"I've looked at life from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall.
I really don't know clouds at all...."

And as Q-Tip proclaimed...Joni Mitchell never lies. Happy Canada's Day!
